Now that the temperature is dropping, it’s important to ensure that we are switching up our skin care routine.  This time of year, our skin can get drier and more dehydrated especially in the more freezing temperatures.  Our skin can appear more red and irritated, in addition to dull and a creepier appearance.  Therefore, it’s imperative that we have a heavier, more nourishing, and hydrating moisturizer, a hyaluronic acid or hydrating serum and/or an exfoliator to encourage cell turnover and better product absorption.  Be sure to not over exfoliate as the skin can already be comprised due to the weather conditions.  One to two nights a week is a good routine to implement.  

Ideal products to use in the Winter months:

·        Use a heavier moisturizer

·        Daily use of hydrating or hyaluronic serum

·        Use a weekly hydrating mask

·        Exfoliate 1-2 times a week

·        Apply skin to damp skin to retain moisture

·        Drink adequate amount of water with electrolytes/sea salt/Himalayan salt

·        Don’t forget to hydrate your lips

·        Sleep with a humidifier 

·        Limit hot showers, use lukewarm water

·        Never forget your SPF

Pro tip:  Make sure that your skin is still damp when applying any hydrating/Hyaluronic acid and/or moisturizers.  This helps ensure that you are locking in the moisture in your skin.
